many parts of the UAE have experienced heavy rainfall, and more is expected soon.

The UAE recently experienced an extraordinary weather event with the heaviest rainfall recorded in the past 75 years. This unprecedented downpour affected various parts of the country, surpassing all previous records since 1949.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology, the exceptional rainfall occurred over a 24-hour period until 9 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. The forecast suggests that heavy rainfall may continue in the coming hours.

One area notably impacted by this significant rainfall was the “Khatm Al Shakla” region in Al Ain, where an impressive 254 mm of rainfall was recorded in less than a day. This measurement breaks previous records by a substantial margin.

This substantial rainfall not only boosts the UAE’s annual rainfall average but also replenishes groundwater reserves across the country. It underscores the importance of adapting to changing climate patterns and reinforces the need for climate resilience efforts.

As the UAE deals with the aftermath of this historic rainfall, it highlights the importance of being prepared for extreme weather events and adapting to climate changes.
